Redevelopment in Central London often involves rebuilding behind a retained facade and Jampel Davison & Bell have done several such schemes in Brompton Road, Marylebone Lane and Marylebone High Street. At New Cavendish Street (ESA Architects) the front elevation of two houses was temporarily supported while a new steel-framed office block was built behind, so the Edwardian Marylebone streetscape was preserved. The mews building at the rear was re-ordered to become part of the modern offices.
